Fruit & Varieties
With standard orchards located within a 5 mile radius of the premises, Tom doesn’t need to travel far when harvesting fruit!
Harvesting famous varieties such as Browns Apple, Porters Perfection, Dabinett, Yarlington Mill, Improved Dove, Michelin, Sweet Coppin and Skyrmes Kernel.
These varieties, known for their Tannin and Acid characteristics, are what help give Toms ciders a unique taste that people like and return to.
Heritage, Restoration & Maintenance
To press good quality fruit in the autumn, you need to have healthy trees in well maintained orchards to grow the fruit in the first place.
The orchards that Tom harvests from still have many Old trees that were originally planted by the Showering’s family as well as cider makers before them. When helping to maintain these orchards, some trees were poorly pruned and others have been removed to tidy up the orchards.
Over the years Tom has not only restored and given these old trees new life, but has also planted and introduced new varieties for the future of cider making.
